It's about the beautiful color of most Haitians as in 'grimo, grimèl and marabou,' the color of the sky and the ocean, the bright colors of Tap Tap, taxis, and buses. It's about the color of Haitian Carnival, rara, popular bands, and Jalouzi neighborhood. Most importantly, it's about the bright colors that Haitians enjoy wearing, the colors of 'pèpè' or used clothes for sale in all Haitian markets. It's also about the colors of the treeless mountains that are being grilled by the Caribbean sun. Trees are like hats that cover the head of the mountain. They are like teeth in the mouth of the country.

"The Colors of Haiti – Koulè Ayiti – Los Colores de Haití" is an ebook that encourages Haitians to plant fruit trees and all the great trees that made the country the pearl of the Antilles.

Written by Christine Laferrière, Samantha Tristanbella, and Louise Jean Boger, 'Barbie’s Diverse World..Skin Tones, Body Shapes, Eye Colors..'is a fluid work of fiction and nonfiction, based on and inspired by Barbie in Multiple Skin Tones, Eye Colors, and Hair Styles. The typical Californian blonde bombshell reinvents herself and embraces girls of all ethnic backgrounds. She could not keep up with the unrealistic body standards she was supposed to promote. She wants to be real just like all girls and women. Barbie wants to be available in tall, curvy and petite sizes.

A great sign of relief for grownup Barbie doll lovers, girls, mothers, and women from everywhere!

This work of fiction and Mattel tend to promote and recognize the importance of true diversity in the world economy and marketplace. This shift towards a wider array of doll options will help all women to finally feel represented, beautiful, and included in all sectors of our overall society. The hope is to gradually change the conversations we have had around race, skin color, beauty, and body standards.

This eBook is written by these 3 writers of diverse ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds, with research and direct relation to autism, Applied Behavior Analysis, and other developmental disabilities. Mattel may soon surpass Lego’s wheelchair with the included story of Skyler, an imagined or real 6-year-old Californian girl with autism. If you happen to be in this story, it’s by simple irony and coincidence. It’s a universal story of the human experience! It’s yours and ours too.Contact EducationalChildrensBooks: AnnPaleKreyol@Gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03724058943609660452noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8397484216369671932.post-61127034984048088612014-12-20T21:43:00.000-08:002014-12-21T12:12:46.158-08:00Haitian Food Names: Learn the names of the dishes and eat the meal!
"Finger-licking Haitian Recipes and Dishes is a new book on Haitian dishes and recipes.
'Mache ak Jwe Anba Lapli - Walking and Playing in The Rain' Book Review:

"Mache ak Jwe anba lapli – Walking and Playing in the rain" is the story of two beautiful Haitian girls who got caught by bad weather while walking home from school. Linda and Lidya were close cousins. They were strong young girls. #Fanm djanm! #Gason ganyan! They were members of an extended Haitian family in Jeremie, a city in the Southwestern part of Haiti. Thomas-Alexandre Dumas, son of a French nobleman and mixed-race slave and eventually a general of the French Revolutionary Wars, was also born there.
Read their story in Haitian Creole and English and find out what they did when they got home despite their maid's instruction. In this story, you will find out the meals Haitian students eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Find out whether you know the names of the games most Haitian kids play. Underline boys and girls' favorite games. Linda and Lidya enjoy playing the following games.

Madan Saras are female Haitian merchants, street vendors who are the principal accumulators, movers, and distributors of domestic produce in Haiti. They are the link between the rural peasant farmers and the city dwellers. They bring the farmers' harvest to the local market. They walk long distance while carrying the produce on their head, donkeys, horses, mules, wheelbarrow, buses, trucks etc. They are the drivers and backbone of the informal Haitian economy.

Book Review

This bestselling Alphabetical Haitian Creole Dictionary was composed and prepared by Haitian American linguist Jean Boger Laferrière who started studying at Sorbonne University in Paris, France. He completed his higher studies at Anglia Ruskin University and Open University.

Jean Boger continues to write about Haitian culture and languages while residing in New York City. In using this lexicon, he wants you to remember that there are some letters that Haitian Creole does not have. For example, X and Q are added to the above list of letters in order to give you their corresponding English version of the words.

Enjoy this small book that can help you learn Haitian Creole, one of the most beautiful, phonetic, and colorful languages of the world.

Here is a copy of the Haitian alphabet which was officially published in 1979: a (ah), an (an), b (be), ch (se ach), d (de), e (e), è (è), en (en), f (èf), g (je), h (ach), I (i), j (ji), k (ka), l (èl), m (èm), n (èn), ng (èn j), O (o), On (on), Ou (ou), Oun (oun), P (pe), R (èr), S (ès), T (te), Ui (yi), V (ve), W (doubleve), Y (igrèg), Z (zèd)

This book is an eclectic collection of poems and short essays on California's people and landscape, wine, beach and car culture. Wordsworth summarizes my poetic affinity, "Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings; it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility." California Blooms, Blossoms, and Harvest Delights deals with this expansive, rich and fertile landscape in a way that readers will quickly recognize the important landmarks, features and attributes of the Golden state. It pinpoints areas of appreciation and highlights important cultural contributions and activities of the various ethnic and minority groups forming this new frontier, Central California. "Our hills and farmland are blooming with new houses and commercial buildings bordering fields of grazing cows." This is an uplifting and thought-provoking work.

Description:

The Long Lost Garden of Eden is a tribute to the fruit growers of the Central Valley of California and all other agriculture-derived industries. Mr. Charles remains true to his upbringing deeply rooted in agribusiness. This book is the result of his keen observations and 12-year research into what makes the San Joaquin Valley one of the most fertile lands in the country. His poems will give you a glimpse of the Central Valley's diversity. His research has culminated into the realization that the Central Valley of California, locked between Southern and Northern California, is the fruit basket of the world. This collection will engage your mind and soul. It will provoke deep reflection that will lead to enlightenment, positive attitude and spiritual renewal. The themes of these poems are universal. Artistic appreciation, hope, beauty, love, loss, hard work, self-improvement, despair, migration, and drought are all themes anybody can relate to, irrelevant of their origins and taste.

If and when you buy a copy of this book published by or associated with 'Brendan Conlee,' you are just supporting a plagiarist. Mr. Charles has not received a response from the previous publisher, PublishAmerica.com, which certifies that the book has been out of print since December 27, 2009 due to the expiration of the contract. Despite this aggressive marketing of the book published on all the above sites, Mr. Charles has not received any royalties. It is fair to suggest that 'Brendan Conlee' who claims to be a co-author of "The Long Lost Garden of Eden" has been receiving all the royalties. So stop buying the book if it is associated with him. Return the copies you had already bought. This way, you will help Mr. Charles, the true author of the book. Help stop plagiarism!!!!!Please help correct a major wrong!!!

It is based on the plasticity and richness of the Haitian folklore. Two of the most recognizable characters of Haitian folktales play a central role in this story.

In this novella, the authors show Bouki's desperation and push factors contributing to his agreement with a sleek, sophisticated local criminal and people smuggler / trafficker known as 'Captain Katastwòf Natirèl.' Bouki was deep in debts because he wanted to maintain a lifestyle he could not afford on the meager catches of a fisherman. Caught and deported several times by U.S. Border and Coast Guard, Captain Katastwòf Natirèl (Captain Natural Catastrophe) was on a black list. Bouki thought he was smart enough to pull this trip on his own. He refused to be known as the butt of his brother's jokes, a simpleton, a fool. He did not want Malis, his intellectual brother, to know about the details of that trip. All the while, Malis never hesitated to put him down and make him realize that he needed his expertise, language skills, and critical thinking.

Charles J. Desmangles and Kevin Levin interweave elements of the Haitian culture in this remarkable Haitian Creole, Spanish, English novella. Things must have been really harsh in Haiti if these two famous characters of the Haitian folklore finally decide to leave the country on a perilous raft to cross illegally to the U.S. shores. When faced with an upcoming storm, Captain Katastwòf Natirèl led his crew to Santiago, Cuba to seek temporary refuge. He forced everybody to learn Spanish in order to pass for Cuban refugees. Will Booki, Malis and Captain Katastwòf Natirèl make it to the dry grounds of Florida?

This story is set against the backdrop of Haiti's devastated agriculture, political upheavals, insecurity, presence of UN troops or Minustah, series of natural disasters such as hurricanes and 2010 earthquake, barren lands and tree-less mountaintops causing widspread floodings, destroyed ecology, infrastructures and educational institutions with a local population that depends more and more on imported goods and used clothes euphemistically known as 'pèpè.'

In this novella, the authors also implicate and relate the complicity of the catholic church whose priest, Father Francois, refuses to use Haitian Creole and French in his mass in his dogged efforts to cater to a dwindling but rich and powerful group of Latin language enthusiasts, les Bourgeois Commercants Mulattres (native Haitians of Syrian, Lebanese and.. descent). He did not heed Professor Malis' advice to start leading mass in Creole just like the Voodoo priests and protestant churches do all over the country with great success. What's worse is that Father Francois never said a word or raisee his stubby pinky finger against the clandestine smuggling and chaperoning of Haitian children who took these rickety boats to get reunited with their parents in Miami. Sister Marie Lafontant made her money chaperoning children and paid the priest under the table without counting her generous tithes to the church.

"Bouki and Malis Turned Boat People - Bouki ak Malis Pran Kanntè" is a book that will make you laugh and cry in the same sentence or paragraph. This book should be a required reading for anybody who wants to understand Haiti and the 'Boat People' phenomenon. Definitely, it should be required reading for any NGO, tourist, international workers in Haiti. It should be a required reading for any sociology students. This novella is edited by Prof. Joseph J. Charles

Now you can find out whether Bouki shows any signs of intelligence here:

"Excerpt from "Bouki and Malis Turned Boat People.."

“They said that I am supposed to pass the shark test too,” Bouki said to Malis.

“What are you talking about?” Malis asked.

“I was told that it is a test developed by the American authorities to separate Cubans from Haitians. They say that sharks like Haitians’ blood and flesh. They eat Haitian migrants whose boats capsize in high seas between Haiti and Bahamas. “

“Come on, Bouki, think straight. Respect yourself. It looks like you are losing your consciousness, you are coming in and out of consciousness. It appears that the waves of the sea and the crossing made you lose your mind. Americans are not like that! Where can they find these sharks?”

“Malis, I am not crazy. You always think I am crazy!”

“Crazy people hold this kind of talk!”

“I am a fisherman, but I am afraid of sharks. Their teeth are like saws.”

“Hello Bouki, you are no longer on the ocean now. You are on firm U.S. soil!”

Congratulations to Vivian and Romeo Sky on the publication of their new children's book!

This book is the result of the quality time a grandmother has been willing to spend with her granddaughter. It also captures the great imagination of a young girl who loves reading. According to grandmother Gigi,Romeo has always enjoyed creating characters in their new stories. Romeo Sky was visiting her grandmother. She brought a lot of books which she displayed on the nearby desk. I had the opportunity to read a book to Romeo who asked me to continue reading other books to her. Before I complied with her request,Gigi, the grandmother, intervened to set me free.

From that very moment, I knew it was just a matter of time before Gigi and Romeo set out to share with us their wonderful world of storytelling and amazing creation.

"Lulu and Lila, The smooth Red Stone" is the story of two identical twin girls, Lulu and Lila, who got invited by a mermaid to embark on a great maritime adventure. All their wishes came true after finding a smooth red stone.
